Brevard County Jail

Medications

Interview with PJ, Katherine, Jimmy and Baldy

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
PJ: n/a
Katherine: NO its the worst place ever to get medical attention. If you had an emergency...and told the nurse when she finally came around, they dont care they would tell you to fill out a sick call request and it would take days for you to get the treatment you needed.
Jimmy: sometimes
Baldy: no, Im on psychiatric pills that help me with my schizophrenia, and they dont give those to me.

JM: How did you get your medications?
PJ: n/a
Katherine: The nurse would come with a cart 2 times a day. Once in the early morning and once after dinner.
Jimmy: dont really know didnt complain if i had a headache and didnt need any prescritions
Baldy: the nurse gives me my other meds.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs?
PJ: loss of privileges
Katherine: They will send you to the box and you will get another outside charge added onto the ones you have.
Jimmy: time in the box
Baldy: im in jail aint I ?

ha the most horrible experience there! Had to detox off of benzo's, had a major seizure, felt like I had a mild stroke, cause I couldnt write, my speach was impaired...all they did was wheel me to medical and I laid on a glat mattress on a cold cement floor, in the dark. HORRIBLE! The medical there is a joke!
